T. Marc Calvert
T. Marc Calvert, J.D. founded Calvert & Associates in 1996. His goal has always been to provide the highest quality of legal service to those who ask for his help. Since 1987, a primary focus of Mr. Calvert’s practice has been health care liability defense, and over the years he has handled innumerable claims, disputed matters, and lawsuits. Mr. Calvert is board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the field of Personal Injury Trial Law and has been since 1994.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Calvert has participated in innumerable depositions, mediations, trials, and appeals. In addition, he has represented a multitude of health care providers before the various health care professional licensing boards. As a certified mediator, Mr. Calvert has also handled numerous disputed matters for a wide variety of cases including family law.
Marc and Suzanne have been married since 1982 and they have three daughters and a son, and 10 grandchildren.
Education & Experience
In 1984, Mr. Calvert graduated with honors from Houston Baptist University with a B.S. in Political Science and Psychology. While at HBU, Mr. Calvert was President of the Pre-Law Society and voted intramural athlete of the year.
Mr. Calvert graduated with a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1987 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas later that year. While at UT, he served as a law clerk for the Texas Employment Commission and wrote opinions for the commission appeals department.
Mr. Calvert joined Edwards and Associates in August of 1987 after having completed a clerkship during the summer of 1986. The firm of Edwards & Calvert was formed when Mr. Calvert became a named partner in 1991. He became board certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in the field of Personal Injury Trial Law in 1994 and has been re-certified at the indicated intervals ever since. On September 3, 1996, Calvert & Associates was established.

Mr. Calvert is a distinguished writer and speaker. He has dedicated himself to not only help health care providers avoid legal issues but to also improve the quality of care provided to patients. He has authored or contributed to several written, audio, and visual publications on health care liability litigation defense including the Quick Reference Guide for Health Care Liability Issues, What Would a Jury Do?, Doctors and the Board: A Primer on the Texas Medical Board for Texas Doctors, The Top Ten: Things All Doctors Should Know About the Texas Medical Board, and Basic Anatomy of a Lawsuit: Considerations for Health Care Providers. In addition, Mr. Calvert has given many presentations, including continuing education courses, to health care providers, medical students, risk management, and insurance professionals.
A Few Award Highlights
2016 - Mr. Calvert was named "Litigator of the Week" by the Texas Lawyer after a win at trial.
2010 - Mr. Calvert was recognized by H-Texas as one of Houston’s “Top Lawyers”.
1999 - Mr. Calvert was given an A-V rating from Martindale-Hubbell indicating pre-eminent legal skills.
1998 - Mr. Calvert was nominated as young lawyer of the year by a local district judge.
