Stephen M. Robinson

Stephen M. Robinson, J.D. began working at Calvert & Associates in June of 2009 and has been an associate attorney since November of 2010.  Mr. Robinson has helped to develop several continuing education courses for insurance professionals and presented on the topics of risk management and safety to Houston area nurses.  Mr. Robinson’s practice areas include health care liability defense and representing health care providers before the Texas Medical Board, Texas Board of Nursing, and in credentialing matters, appellate practice, intellectual property law, and family law/guardianship issues.  He is one of the contributing authors to the firm's Quick Reference Guide for Health Care Liability Issues.

Education and Experience

Mr. Robinson received a B.S. in Genetics from Texas A&M University in 2006 with a minor in Film Studies.  During his time at Texas A&M, he began working in research science with a focus on phage genomics and genome sequencing.  He served as a teaching assistant and coordinator for courses involving bio-robotics, genome sequencing, and phage genomics.  After graduating from Texas A&M, he continued in research science at the University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Science, working predominately in human cancer genomics, until his admission to the University of Houston Law Center.

Mr. Robinson received his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 2010.  Mr. Robinson was the Editor in Chief of the Houston Journal of Health Law & Policy and oversaw the publication of three editions in 2009 and 2010.  He also served on the Moot Court Board of Student Directors and is currently on the University of Houston Alumni Moot Court Board.  Mr. Robinson competed in the National Moot Court Competition regional tournament in the fall of 2008 where his team received an award for best brief and took 3rd place overall.  Mr. Robinson also interned with the Honorable Laura Carter Higley in the First District Court of Appeals for the State of Texas and worked as a consumer advisor at the Texas Consumer Complaint Clinic.
